Deborah Archer Elected President of the ACLU

​I'm extremely proud of my board service for the ACLU, and am even prouder this week to have cast my vote for the organization's newest board President: Deborah Archer.

There is no one better to lead the ACLU into its second century!

We are so excited for you and lucky to have you leading the way.

This news is so special to me...

Deborah has been a friend and mentor since I was a 20-something “kid” on the board of the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) trying to figure out how I had even gotten there let alone how to best serve now that I held a seat at the leadership table.

Deborah was also there as a role model and confidante as I transitioned onto the National ACLU board as a 30-something who was also navigating a dissertation, a cross-country move, a new marriage and eventually motherhood. Watching and speaking with Deborah allowed me to see what “doing all the things” and doing them *exceptionally well* could look like.

Fast forward to this year — I’m now 40 and have had the distinct pleasure of campaigning for and casting my vote for Deborah Archer to serve as the ACLU Board President!

What a privilege and honor to have even the tiniest role in this historic win for the organization.

Thank you Deborah for your guidance, friendship, and unassuming inspiration!
I want to be (my own literary world version of) you when I grow up!

Can’t wait to continue this important work alongside you and our merry board of Civil Libertarians.
